Honeymoon (2019)
Installation view
What if there was a correlation between the tragic separation of René Descartes’ skull from its body, that happens to him after his death, and the will of the philosopher of putting his head in the oven as a way to amplify the potentialities of his thinking?
Honeymoon takes the appropriation of narratives from the philosopher René Descartes, to find in his biography and work, the symbols to construct an uchronia - an alternative History. Exploring a liquid field between performance and document, the work uses an installation to build a fiction that reflects upon the mnemonic potential linked to the medium specificities, as the quotation as a narrative tool.
Taking the absurd as a strategy, the installation uses painting, collage and animation to play with the expectations around a shared concept of Descartes’ figure.
